Job Overview:
First established in 1901, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is a 665-bed qua ternary care, teaching hospital that provides comprehensive health care for the region. The hospital emphasizes quality patient care and staff collaboration.

Essential Functions
  • The Registered Nurse provides nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards; adheres to ethical standards as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
  • Scheduling Requirements:
    Per Diem Day Shift;
    Weekend Availability Preferred.
  • Responsibilities include utilization review and discharge planning as part of case management.
  • Active RN License or approved compact license with NJ endorsement required.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Participation in scheduling and coordination to ensure patient care needs are met.
  • The RN acts as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, uses the nursing process to individualize the plan of care, and communicates with the patient care team.
  • Responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
  • Maintains knowledge of the patient population served and demonstrates continuous professional development.
  • Supervises and directs the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other providers.
  • Sets and evaluates priorities with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
Qualifications
  • BSN from an accredited school of Nursing is required.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of nursing experience, which may include inpatient nursing, case management, utilization review, discharge planning, or community health nursing.
  • Utilization review and discharge planning experience is preferred.
  • Active RN License or approved compact license with NJ endorsement required.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association is required.
