Registered Nurse (RN) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit PT Days

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center – 201 LYONS AVENUE, NEWARK, NJ

Pay Range: $46.48 – $62.09 per hour (based on educational background, skills, and experience)

Shift: Day – 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Status:
Part-Time – 24 hours per week (Mon – Fri, every other weekend and holiday rotation)

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with an ECMO unit. The RN works within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act, regulatory standards, and the ANA code of ethics. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team, advocates for the patient and families, and utilizes evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes.

Essential Functions
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to infants and families within the NICU.
  • Maintain safe nursing practice, including reporting safety issues and medical errors.
  • Knowledgeable about the patient population served and the unique needs of neonatal patients.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to team members and collaborate with other patient care providers.
  • Consistently set and evaluate priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
  • Utilize the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and individualize the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited NLN Nursing program.
  • Active NJ RN license or a compact RN license with NJ endorsement.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • NRP certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong communication skills; flexibility and adaptability to meet unit needs; proficient computer skills.
  • Minimum 1 year recent/current PICU or pediatric acute care experience.
Preferred
  • BSN degree.
  • NICU experience.
Scheduling Requirements
  • Day shift, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Part-time, 24 hours per week.
  • Monday – Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation.
