Munich Airport NJ LLC (MANJ), a US-based subsidiary of the renowned German Airport Operator Munich Airport, is responsible for the maintenance and concession management of Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
We are seeking a highly motivated Sprinkler Technician to join our team as soon as possible. The Sprinkler Technician will maintain fire protection systems and be the first investigator for all fire alarms as well as the primary point of contact for both internal and external customers and contractor. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on the operations of one of the most advanced terminal developments in the United States.
Responsibilities- Perform monthly, quarterly, semi-annual & annual flow testing of fire protection systems and backflow preventors as per NFPA, and perform onsite emergency troubleshooting and repairs of the Terminal A fire alarm and protection systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and addressing any code violations or non-conformance issues.
- Act as the first investigator for fire alarms/fire protection systems within Terminal A and operate the fire protection and fire alarming systems and software when needed, assessing situations, determining causes, and taking appropriate actions such as operating the fire protection systems and FACP.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities, and able to work well with other team members and terminal stakeholders.
- Read and interpret blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals to effectively maintain and troubleshoot fire protection systems.
- Ensure that work orders for planned FLS maintenance are in place, creating and maintaining schedules for planned maintenance activities, and keeping stakeholders informed of status and deficiencies.
- Monitor the CMMS system (Maximo) to ensure all the FLS work orders are completed on time, overseeing execution of maintenance work orders, reviewing completed work, logging incidents and ensuring resolution in accordance with SLAs.
- Inform, communicate, and collaborate when events require other stakeholders’ involvement, ensuring effective coordination.
- Monitor and oversee that planned and ad‑hoc inspections are taking place, ensuring that both scheduled and unscheduled inspections are conducted as required to maintain the fire protection systems, and coordinate with subcontractors for performance and issue resolution.
- Monitor all FLS KPIs and SLAs for compliance, tracking key performance indicators to meet established standards.
- Prepare documentation for events for pre‑ and post‑stakeholder meetings.
- Issue shift/daily reports as required, providing updates on maintenance activities, issues, and performance metrics.
- Monitor Cerberus Danger Management System and Building Management System(s) status and take appropriate action to address any faults through management of corrective work orders.
- Perform building inspections including facilities maintenance and life safety audits.
- Shift work required and will cover other shifts for PTO/vacations as needed, providing flexibility for team coverage.
- NICET Level II/NICET Level III Certification is required.
- Familiarity with NFPA Requirements for Fire Protection & Life Safety Systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire sprinklers/clean agent, fire extinguishers, and related equipment.
- Back‑flow certification is preferred and must obtain S12, S13, and S14 certification within the first six months if not already held.
- Be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs for extended periods, and lift at least thirty (30) lbs.
- Possess a GED, high school diploma, or equivalent.
