FHIR Data Analyst (Hands-On Implementation)
- Serve as a hands-on analyst on FHIR implementation initiatives, supporting design, build, testing, and deployment of FHIR-based data solutions
- Analyse healthcare data domains (e.g., Member, Eligibility, Coverage, Claims, Prior Authorization, Clinical data) and map them to appropriate FHIR resources and profiles
- Interpret and apply FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) such as payer, provider, or regulatory IGs (e.g., US Core, Da Vinci, CARIN) to implementation work
- Create and maintain FHIR mappings
, resource definitions, extensions, and value set bindings - Collaborate with architects and developers on FHIR API design
, payload structure, search parameters, and versioning strategies - Validate FHIR conformance using tools such as FHIR validators
, test servers, and reference implementations - Support data quality, normalization, and transformation efforts between source systems and FHIR endpoints
- Participate in end-to-end testing
, including unit, integration, and UAT, ensuring alignment with IG requirements and business use cases - Produce high-quality documentation including data mappings, FHIR resource specifications, conformance notes, and test scenarios
- Act as a subject matter expert for FHIR-related questions across technical and business teams
- 5+ years of healthcare data or systems analysis experience
, with at least 2+ years focused on FHIR implementations - Demonstrated,
hands-on experience delivering real FHIR projects (not just conceptual knowledge) - Strong understanding of HL7 FHIR R4 resources, profiles, extensions, value sets, and terminology services
- Proven experience working with FHIR Implementation Guides (IGs) and applying them to production solutions
- Experience with healthcare data standards such as HL7 v2, CDA, X12
, and mapping them to FHIR - Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and API testing tools (e.g., Postman)
- Ability to work closely with engineers while independently owning data analysis and mapping work
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills
