Job Description

As a Data Scientist, you will solve complex challenges and identify new opportunities using analytical expertise, business acumen, strategic thinking, and project and relationship management skills. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new strategic initiative. The position is located in Newark, NJ, just a 15-minute train ride from New York Penn Station.

Responsibilities
  • Integrate and analyze large data sets, connecting data from various sources to identify insights and patterns using predictive and prescriptive analytics, and machine learning techniques.
  • Conduct advanced statistical analysis such as linear regression, ANOVA, time-series analysis, classification models, neural networks, decision trees, and analysis of unstructured data (e.g., social media listening, digital footprints, speech analytics).
  • Prepare and present reports, findings, and presentations to stakeholders, translating complex statistical information into understandable business language.
  • Apply knowledge of U.S. businesses and relevant industry insights to analysis and recommendations.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
Qualifications
  • Experience analyzing large data sets using statistical software such as SAS, R, Python, and SPSS to uncover business insights.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. SQL programming and experience with DBMS like IBM DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, or Sybase are required. Java is highly desired.
  • Experience building models, analyzing unstructured data, and/or machine learning.
  • Academic background and work experience in Statistics or related fields, with exposure to data visualization and data structures.
  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline, plus 2-3 years of work experience; or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of experience.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of explaining data insights to business managers.
  • Project management experience, including managing projects, budgets, and schedules.
  • Previous exposure to financial services or insurance industries is a plus.
