University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), operating within Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is dedicated to providing physical, mental health, dental, and sex‑offender treatment services to individuals in the criminal and juvenile justice systems of New Jersey. UCHC serves approximately 20,500 inmates, 400 residents in JJC locations, and 1,000 individuals in state parole board offices with a budget of $150 million and a staff of about 1,100.
Duties- Conduct specialized psychological testing and assessment for adult inmates sentenced to the Department of Corrections. Arrive at diagnoses with precision, develop treatment plans, and make clinically based decisions regarding appropriateness and modality of treatment.
- Provide group, individual, and family therapies and assess and refer for higher levels of care as needed.
- Recognize the unique needs and behaviors of adult inmates, seniors, and their families.
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Clinical‑Counseling Psychology, or Forensic Psychology.
- Trained in psychological testing and measurement.
- Minimum of two (2) years post‑master’s experience, or a Doctorate in psychology may substitute.
- Valid driver’s license. Must possess own vehicle to travel between sites.
- Licensure in a mental‑health field (e.g., Licensed Associate Counselor [LAC], Licensed Professional Counselor [LPC], or Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor [LCADC]).
