New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III for the department of Medicine at the New Jersey Medical School.
Responsibilities include conducting specialized research, using judgment to adapt methods and techniques; may be responsible for the management of a small-sized laboratory area; and assisting the Principal Investigator with budgetary, training and administrative responsibilities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
- As assigned, carries out various technical and research operations relating to investigatory activities of the laboratory.
- May assist in organizing and conducting specialized research activities for a particular research project.
- Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows and technicians in various techniques and procedures to develop the skills necessary to carry out assignments in the laboratory assistants.
- May coordinate, supervise and evaluate the work of non-professional staff.
- Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.
