About the Role

The primary purpose of the Diet Control Assistant position is to provide infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients with quality Food & Nutrition services, operational information; and serves as the liaison between the patient care unit(s) and the Department of Food & Nutrition. Delivers all meals/food items to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in designated patient care unit(s) within specified time frames.

Performs in a caring, conscientious and confidential manner toward patients, family members, visitors, colleagues, staff and students. Maintains individual patient care electronic Card files and coordinates interdepartmental communications.

What You’ll Do

• Maintains electronic patient card files.
• Modifies menu to comply with diet order prescriptions/meal patterns.
• Formulates patient meal supplements and nourishments.
• Delivers meals and snacks per policy and procedures. Retrieves patient meal trays per policy and procedure. Utilizes knowledge of growth and development when providing services to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
• Communicates with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in a manner which demonstrates an understanding of the patient’s developmental and cognitive level.
• Calculates production requirements for meals, including tallied items.

What You’ll Bring

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.
• At least one (1) or more years of Food Service, Customer Service, and/or hospitality experience required.
• Ability to read, write speak, and understand English fluently to perform the duties of the position required.
• Effective verbal and written communications.
• Customer service and hospitality- oriented.
• Attention to detail with appropriate follow through.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member.
• Ability to establish effective relationships within a multi-cultural environment.

Compensation (NJ Job Transparency Law)

In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $19.17 - $20.26.
