** Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) – Per Diem – Outpatient – Newark, NJ**
Job OverviewTreats patients with disabilities considering responses as related to the patient's functional adaptation to the environment.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
- NJ State Occupational Therapy License
- Maintained registration by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board
- Satisfactory completion of Certification Examination of National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists (NBCOT) and maintenance of registration
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
- Twelve-week pediatric affiliation or pediatric experience
- Detailed knowledge of developmental theory and the effects of physical and percepto-cognitive disabilities as well as the psycho-social aspects of functional adaptation to the environment
- Ability to evaluate disruptions in performance and plan treatment to minimize disabling effects of these conditions
- Tact and judgment in performance of duties
- Commitment to improving skill level
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- Master's degree
- NJ State Occupational Therapy License
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
- American Occupational Therapy Certification Board registration
- NBCOT registration
- Per Diem
- After School Hours
- Selects, administers, and interprets assessment tools as designated in competency expectations including history, screening, observations, and evaluations as appropriate to patients.
- Identifies and prioritizes realistic functional goals for remediation, compensation, adaptation or prevention of deficits.
- Selects, utilizes, and evaluates the effectiveness of appropriate treatment methods as designated in competency expectations.
- Applies principles of activity analysis for grading physical, perceptual-cognitive and psycho-social demands to produce an optimal mesh of the child or family's abilities to meet environmental demand.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and team in oral and written formats, both formal and non-formal, and with referring physicians and community contacts.
- Assists in training others (staff, COTAs, aides and students) as designated in competency expectations.
- Seeks supervision or consultation regarding clinical performance, and actively contributes to improvement plans by effectively using feedback.
- Meets competency expectations in explaining symptoms, prognosis and functional limitations for a variety of diagnostic groups.
- Provides discharge recommendations appropriate to the child and their family, considering prognosis, role expectations and knowledge of community resources as designated in competency expectations.
