Utility Inspector
We are seeking a dedicated Utility Inspector to oversee the replacement of lead service lines with copper ones. This role involves inspecting water mains and other structures to ensure their structural soundness, safety, and compliance with regulations. The position requires meticulous documentation of inspection results and coordination of construction-related services.
Responsibilities- Inspect water mains and other structures such as roads, dams, and bridges for structural soundness, safety, and compliance with codes and regulations.
- Document inspection results, including deterioration, structural condition, and any deficiencies between design and execution.
- Monitor progress and contribute to construction and project status reports.
- Oversee and coordinate construction-related services on projects.
- Conduct on-site investigations and review relevant data including maps, reports, tests, and drawings.
- Comply with guidelines and regulations, including permits and safety, and deliver required technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills for daily interactions with clients and property owners.
- 1+ years of construction experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity and comfort with using computers, tablets, and phones.
- Good interpersonal skills to cultivate relationships with colleagues, customers, and partners.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to pass a federal background check.
The role involves canvassing and surveying areas, using a mobile app on a tablet for guidance. Inspectors will take photos and document findings. Work will primarily occur at project sites including Scotch Plains and Middlesex. Work hours are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, with opportunities for overtime pay. A vehicle is required for this position, and mileage will be reimbursed.
