Overview
Senior Program Coordinator – Rutgers University – Newark. Reports to the Assistant Dean and leads the RBS Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Office to advance programs that support historically underrepresented and underserved students.
Responsibilities- Organize, coordinate, and monitor IDEA programs, initiatives, and projects.
- Assist in recruiting, engagement, retention, academic success, and professional development of target students.
- Administer programs such as RBS NextUP, RBS PREP, RBS B‑STAR, and RBS C.E.O. Network.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of projects, planning, preparation, evaluation, communications, records, program reports, and documentation.
- Execute recruitment strategy to increase student engagement.
- Maintain a master schedule of all programs and activities.
- Manage daily operational procedures of the IDEA Office, including student meetings and data records.
- Run, update, and maintain IDEA Office webpages and marketing materials.
- Develop and maintain social media and software platforms to enhance communications with current and prospective students and stakeholders.
- Manage other duties as assigned throughout the year to synthesize new information and create positive change.
- Travel to off‑campus events and businesses in the NY/NJ metro area; frequent evening and weekend hours required; travel between campuses expected.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, experience, or combination demonstrating deep knowledge of program design, execution, coordination, data collection, research principles, writing, social media networking, and outreach.
- Minimum of two years relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function with coordination of work and management of people; computer literacy.
- Knowledge of major academic and diversity issues; understanding of importance of a diverse and inclusive environment in higher education.
- Knowledge of EEO practices in higher education.
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in program coordination or administrative function; outstanding organizational, communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to represent the IDEA Office, Rutgers Business School, and Rutgers University professionally and enthusiastically.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Work cooperatively with others, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Experience working with under‑represented minority groups and underserved K‑12 school districts.
- Experience in higher education.
- Travel to off‑campus events and NY/NJ metro area required.
- Evening and weekend hours often required; weekly travel between campuses expected.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with under‑represented minority groups, underserved school districts, and first‑generation student needs.
- Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge and commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion.
- Knowledge of survey tools such as Qualtrics and Google Forms, Rutgers RIAS and HCM systems, budgets, and financial analysis.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) required.
