Summary:

The Summer Institute is a dynamic Summer Enrichment initiative designed to assist first-year students with transitioning from high school to college. The Institute focuses on developing the knowledge and skills needed in the college classroom setting that scholars will need in the Fall semester.

Summer Institute Instructor: We seek passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as support instructors for the School of Nursing Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Summer Institute. This role begins with a tentatively scheduled Instructor Orientation in June 2026, followed by required preparation and training meetings throughout the month of June. Faculty and Staff orientation and student onboarding will take place in late June, leading into the core instructional period, which runs from Monday, June 29 through Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Instructors will be responsible for a syllabus, course instruction, tutoring, testing, student evaluation, participation in the end-of-program ceremony, and other administrative tasks. Please note that this program is conducted fully in person on campus. These preparatory courses are not part of an official academic program but are intentionally designed to align closely with Fall semester coursework in order to strengthen students' foundational knowledge and support their transition into the academic year.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend planning and pre-program training meetings.
  • Deliver course instruction, administer exams, and assess student learning.
  • Participate in EOF faculty team meetings to monitor student academic progress.
  • Track student performance through exams, quizzes, and assignments.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing to assess student strengths and areas for growth.
  • Provide supplemental academic support and coaching to students facing academic challenges.
  • Collaborate with EOF staff on special events, including student and staff retreat, debate competition, newsletter contributions, and EOF End-of-Summer Institute Ceremony.

Minimum

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Master's Degree in a relevant field
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience preferred
