WHO ARE WE

Sadie Nash Leadership Project provides award-winning experiential social justice education to more than 500 young women and gender-expansive youth of color in New York City and Newark each year. Operating with love and rigor, we use the tools of popular education to build critical consciousness, community, and college readiness. We strengthen, empower, and equip our participants to lead lives in committed pursuit of joy and liberation for self and community.

Our award-winning flagship program,
Summer Institute (SI), is an immersive 6-week program for high school students, where participants (lovingly called Nashers) explore themes related to leadership, feminism, and social justice. Through classes, workshops, field trips, and intimate conversations with community leaders, we introduce concepts of power, identity, and privilege so that our Nashers can articulate and critically analyze their personal experiences within a broader political context and through project based learning.

SI operates at five in-person sites:
Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Newark, NJ.

We are seeking responsible and detail-oriented Site Leaders at five in-person sites of our summer program. Site Leaders are charged with the oversight of a Summer Institute site, assuming a range of teaching responsibilities as well as duties related to program coordination and support of staff.

Site Leaders work in pairs to cultivate the unique culture of each location. Site Leaders supervise Deans (college-aged interns who serve as teaching assistants and direct mentors to youth) and Faculty (experienced educators who teach interactive courses) as well as facilitate a course.
The Site Leader position is from June 16, 2026 – August 17, 2026. This position requires a full-time, 40 hour per week, in-person commitment.

• Facilitation and Curriculum Development: Engaging facilitation of classes on leadership and social justice, with support from a Dean (college-aged intern) weekly, to meet Nasher needs. Site Leaders also facilitate our wellness class through lesson plans provided by our wellness team.
• People Management: Site Leaders provide feedback and support through supervision, lead regular check-ins with staff, interns, and participants, and facilitate community-building and conflict resolution at their site.
• Program Management: Site Leaders oversee daily programming and operations, track attendance and surveys, manage paperwork, support site visits and events, monitor expenses, and onboard waitlisted participants to meet program goals.
• Community Relationship Building: Site Leaders serve as the main contact for partners and external contacts, lead orientations for youth and families, assign Nashers to cohorts and courses, coordinate community-building events, chaperone field trips, manage guest speakers, and plan the end-of-program celebration.

• Intrinsic Passion for Youth Development: This is high-energy, demanding youth work. We seek leaders who find working with youth and college interns energizing and fulfilling. We want folks who value daily growth and see potential in every young person and adult. A bachelor’s degree (or 3–4 years equivalent experience) and at least two years of youth development experience are required.
• Creative Facilitation and Workshop Planning: SNLP provides a standard curriculum for core classes which successful site leaders adapt to meet cohort needs with minimal staff support, while centering SNLP’s mission and values. This includes facilitating community-building, conflict resolution, and learning grounded in intersectional feminism, racial and gender equity, and LGBTQIA+ rights.
• Transformative Classroom Management: We seek team members who honor youth agency in shaping learning and move away from authoritarian classroom models.
