Newark School of Architecture and Interior Design SY2026-27 (NBOE) seeks a qualified individual to serve as Department Chairperson for the Science department. The position is posted by Newark Public Schools and is pending availability of funds and Superintendent’s approval.

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• New Jersey Department of Education Supervisor Standard Certificate.
• Minimum of three (3) years successful experience in teaching the related content area or related experience.

• Facilitate the growth and development of teachers working collaboratively with peers.
• Assist teachers in alignment, articulation, integration, and implementation of curriculum through and across grade levels.
• Teach demonstration lessons in classrooms and serve as a peer coach and mentor for staff in reciprocal relationships.
• Provide teachers the opportunity to develop effective instructional techniques, strategies, and professional behaviors.
• Have knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards for curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
• Assume responsibility to attend and participate in ongoing professional development activities.
• Provide teachers with the opportunity to enhance knowledge of content and management skills.
• Analyze and communicate student assessment data, and make program recommendations based on the analysis of available data.
• Provide reports on the progress of program initiatives.
• Perform other duties consistent with specific contractual terms of employment as assigned by the Principal.
• Monitor implementation of the school district’s approved content program in accordance with the needs of students.
• Assume responsibility to attend and participate in in‑service workshops.
• Assist the classroom teacher and teacher aides in the creative use of new technological equipment and supplementary materials.
• Perform other duties and tasks assigned by Supervisor.

Principal

• Salary Range: $92,000–$128,000
• Employment Period:
  Eleven (11) months
• Union Affiliation: CASA
