Psychologist – Office of Early Childhood Education

The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of School Psychologist within the Office of Early Childhood Education. (Pending availability of funds and Board of Education approval)
Responsibilities- Serve as a member of the Preschool Intervention and Referral Team (PIRT) and handle identification, evaluation, classification, program planning, and monitoring for children eligible for Early Intervention Services.
- Evaluate students to assess cognitive, social/adaptive behavior, and emotional development and factors that impede or enhance progress within the general education curriculum.
- Provide recommendations for modifications and accommodations to enable early childhood education students to increase participation and progress.
- Act as a consultant to promote good mental health practices and serve as a liaison between the Office of Early Childhood Education, school administrators, and outside agencies.
- Generate written, professionally typed reports of evaluations using the mandated OEC form, including background, interviews, observations, procedures, findings, and educational impact.
- Participate in PIRT meetings to determine eligibility, programs, and develop Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs).
- Maintain case records, files, and accurate productivity data per OEC department procedures.
- Perform additional duties within scope of employment and certification as may be assigned by the Director of OEC or appropriate supervisors.
- New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate or reputable eligibility for an Emergency certificate.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- New Jersey Standard School Psychologist Certificate.
- Evidence of successful completion of an approved internship.
- Knowledgeable about State and Federal regulations and departmental procedures.
- Professional demeanor and fosters positive relations with PIRT staff, teachers, students, parents, and administrators.
- Proficient with computer technology.
- Efficient time-management skills.

Salary, Employment Period, and Union Affiliation- Salary: $70,000.00
