RWJBarnabas Health is seeking anexperienced interventional cardiologistto serve as theMedical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Director of Coronary and Structural Heart InterventionsatNewark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC). This is ahigh-impact leadership opportunityto oversee one of the most advancedinterventional cardiology and structural heart programsin the region, drivingquality, innovation, and programmatic growthin a high-volume, qua ternary referral center.

The ideal candidate will be aboard-certified interventional cardiologistwithextensive experience in complex coronary interventions and structural heart disease, demonstrated leadership in cardiac catheterization lab operations, and a commitment toteaching, research, and quality improvement.

The anticipated salary range for this position if hired to work is $600,000 to $900,000 per year.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s educational background, skills, and professional experience

Key ResponsibilitiesMedical Director, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
  • Provide clinical and administrative leadershipfor theCardiac Catheterization Laboratory, ensuring excellence inpatient care, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Overseediagnostic and interventional procedures, including complexpercutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), chronic total occlusions (CTO), mechanical circulatory support (MCS), and high-risk PCI.
  • Leadquality assurance programs, including adherence toACC/NCDR and CMS guidelines, peer review, and protocol development to enhance outcomes.
  • Optimizelab workflow, resource allocation, and strategic growth, ensuring cutting-edgetechnology adoption and procedural innovation.
  • Collaborate withcardiac surgery, electrophysiology, cardiac imaging, and heart failure teamsto enhancemultidisciplinary care and patient selection.
  • Foster aculture of excellence in education and mentorship, supervisingcardiology fellows, residents, and allied health professionals.
Director, Coronary and Structural Heart Intervention
  • Lead and expand thestructural heart program, overseeing advanced procedures such asTAVR, Mitra Clip, PFO/ASD closure, LAAC (e.g., Watchman), and other transcatheter therapies.
  • Ensurestate-of-the-art procedural techniquesand evidence-based care forcomplex coronary and structural heart interventions.
  • Driveclinical research and innovation, collaborating on trials and registry participation to advance the field.
  • Serve as akey liaison between interventional cardiology, cardiac surgery, and referring physicians, promotingprogrammatic integration and patient access.
  • Guidefaculty development, recruitment, and training initiatives, fostering the next generation of interventional cardiologists.
Qualifications
  • MD or DOfrom an accredited institution.
  • Board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experiencein interventional cardiology, includingcomplex PCI and structural heart interventions.
  • Provenleadership experience in a cardiac catheterization labor interventional cardiology program.
  • Strong background inquality improvement, clinical research, and program development.
  • Demonstrated commitment toteaching, mentorship, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Eligible forNew Jersey medical licensure.
