About St. Michaels Medical CenterLocated in the heart of Newark, St. Michaels Medical Center has served the community for over 150 years and is known for its dedication to quality care and innovation. The hospital offers a full range of services, including a well-established behavioral health program.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct psychiatric care to adult inpatients, including evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning.
Serve as the primary clinical leader of the inpatient psychiatric unit, overseeing all medical and clinical activities.
Collaborate with the hospital administration, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to support quality improvement initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.
Supervise and provide guidance to attending psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses (APNs), residents (if applicable), and clinical staff.
Participate in case conferences, utilization review, and patient flow coordination.
Lead performance improvement efforts and contribute to program development.
Ensure timely documentation in the electronic medical record and compliance with hospital and CFG policies.
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey
Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred
Prior leadership or medical director experience strongly preferred
DEA license and CDS certification
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to collaborative and compassionate care
