Posting Summary

Rutgers University–Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey—a city of promise—is seeking a Temporary Unit Administrative Support. Reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Dean, the Unit Administrative Support provides general administrative and office support to the Dean’s Office within the School of Criminal Justice. This position prepares documents for entry into university administrative systems and provides support for office projects and programs.

The incumbent is expected to have attention to detail, meet deadlines, execute tasks in a timely manner, and exhibit a professional demeanor.

Under the direction of the Executive Assistant to the Dean, the key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as the first point of contact for in-person visitors and phone inquiries
  • Organizing and maintaining office records and databases
  • Tracking office supply inventory and ensuring timely replenishment
  • Organizing meetings, scheduling SCJ-specific space, and coordinating travel arrangements
  • Coordinating staff moves, removal of surplus equipment, and document archiving
  • Utilizing University administrative systems to prepare requisitions, create expense reports, enter payroll timesheets, and maintain absence records
  • Working with vendors to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices
  • Providing administrative support for projects and programs within the School of Criminal Justice
  • Completing tasks and assignments with accuracy and within the given deadlines
  • Completing other assignments consistent with the mission, vision, role, and goals of the School of Criminal Justice
