Job Description & How to Apply Below

Voyager Trucking is a rapidly expanding waste and recycling transportation company entering a new phase of growth following a private equity investment in July 2025. As we scale operations, expand routes, and professionalize our infrastructure, we are building a finance function that can support accelerated growth while maintaining strong financial discipline and internal control.

We are not simply maintaining books — we are building a scalable accounting foundation capable of supporting expansion, operational complexity, and potential acquisitions.

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in strengthening the company’s financial infrastructure during a high-growth phase. This individual will take ownership of key areas of the close process, ensure the integrity of balance sheet accounts, and contribute to building institutional-grade accounting processes that can scale with the business.

This is a high-visibility role that requires precision, accountability, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, operationally intensive environment.

Key Responsibilities Ownership of the Month-End Close Process
  • Lead the preparation and execution of detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations across all major accounts, ensuring that each account is fully supported, thoroughly reviewed, and free of unexplained reconciling items before financials are finalized.
  • Prepare and post journal entries with comprehensive documentation that clearly ties to supporting schedules and aligns with internal accounting policies and GAAP standards.
  • Maintain and continuously improve roll‑forward schedules for fixed assets, debt, leases, accruals, payroll liabilities, and other key accounts to ensure transparency and traceability of all account activity.
  • Actively identify process inefficiencies within the close cycle and implement improvements that reduce close timelines while increasing accuracy and control.
Operational & Transactional Accounting Integration
  • Work closely with operations leadership to validate revenue recognition, labor allocations, fleet‑related expenses, and cost classifications to ensure financial results accurately reflect business performance.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and support cash monitoring processes, proactively investigating and resolving discrepancies to maintain strong liquidity visibility.
  • Assist in tracking capital expenditures, ensuring that fixed asset additions are properly capitalized, documented, and depreciated in accordance with company policy.
  • Review payroll‑related entries and accruals to ensure labor expenses are properly recorded in the correct period and align with operational data from internal systems.
Controls, Audit & Scalability
  • Help strengthen internal controls by formalizing reconciliation standards, documentation practices, and review procedures as the company scales.
  • Support lender, audit, and private equity reporting requirements by preparing organized and defensible supporting schedules that withstand external scrutiny.
  • Contribute to system enhancements and accounting process documentation to build a repeatable, scalable financial infrastructure.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Demonstrated experience owning balance sheet reconciliations in a fast‑paced environment
  • Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, index/match, large dataset analysis, schedule building)
  • CPA or CPA‑track preferred
What Success Looks Like
  • A disciplined and predictable close process that consistently meets deadlines
  • Clean, well‑documented balance sheet reconciliations that require minimal review adjustments
  • Increased audit readiness and reduced post‑close corrections
  • Accounting processes that can scale alongside business growth
