Primary Function: To drive a laundry truck transporting clean and soiled linen between laundry and hospital.

• Drive in accordance with police and safety regulations.
• Load, unload and transport all linens and other hospital equipment between hospitals.
• Care for and maintain vehicles and make minor repairs.
• Load and unload trucks to/from laundry and other storage areas.
• Assist in laundry when necessary such as sorting linens, loading and unloading washers and dryers.
• Work rotating shifts.
• Turn in a daily vehicle inspection report.
• Load laundry up to 1000 lbs, push and/or pull up and down ramps from laundry areas to truck loading ramps.
• Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
• Report to supervisor a timely manner any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Six months on job training.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

• Knowledge of defensive driving.
• Knowledge of Christiana Care and departmental policies and procedures.
• Ability to drive a van and/or truck.
• Ability to read, write, and follow simple written oral instructions.
• Skill in good motor coordination, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination when driving truck or handling materials.
• Skill in oral and written communications.

• Valid State of Delaware Driver's License Class 'B' CDL and safe driving record.

• Requires lifting, pushing, pulling of heavy linen carts daily in transporting them to specified locations.

• Exposure to hazardous chemicals, chemical odors, and loud noises.
• Possible exposure to sharp instruments and infectious diseases.
• Adverse weather and road conditions.

This position has a starting rate of $20.23 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $23.79 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $24.98.

This pay rate/range represents Christiana Care’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
