Performs a wide variety of electronic, electro‑mechanical, and mechanical assembly operations on product components, assemblies, or sub‑assemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequences of operations in wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing, welding, and fitting on assembly units. Executes production operations while performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies. Responsible for following all operating procedures to the highest standard.
Works collaboratively with manufacturing associates, engineering, quality, and leadership to execute on production requirements. Supports engineering experimentation and operational improvement initiatives as requested. Participates on teams to identify opportunities for improvements within production areas and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process. Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.
Normally follows established procedures on routine work and can work independently with little supervision on routine and moderately difficult tasks within scope of training. Able to make process decisions within area of training and requires instructions only on new assignments. Recognizes obstacles and the need for adaptation or flexibility and partners with senior‑level technicians or Team Leads in the decision‑making process.
- Maintain and promote a safe work environment at all times and respond to any unsafe or hazardous situations.
- Responsible for meeting quality, efficiency, and safety requirements and standards.
- Organize and verify all components prior to completing assembly operations.
- Assemble moderately complex sub‑assemblies and final assemblies following all applicable procedures and documentation.
- Execute moderately complex soldering operations as required per IPC standards.
- Read and interpret moderately complex schematics and blueprints to ensure proper assembly.
- Utilize mechanical tools, electrical tools, measurement devices, soldering equipment, crimpers, and other hand tools.
- Complete all quality and assembly documentation in alignment with quality management system requirements.
- Meet standard cycle time expectations for production.
- Apply working knowledge of test equipment required within the operations area independently.
- Report all non‑conformances to Team Lead or Supervisor and complete NCEs as appropriate.
- Ensure processes support all Hologic Quality Standards.
- Perform root cause investigations with the operations team utilizing troubleshooting tools.
- Perform process validations and suggest process improvements to the engineering team or Team Lead.
- Complete documentation updates in alignment with engineering direction.
- Participate in daily improvement processes and contribute to MDI discussions.
- Maintain and execute 5S practices within the work area.
- Complete required training and maintain accurate training records.
- Conduct inventory transactions to maintain integrity of the inventory system.
- Process work order transactions utilizing the Oracle system.
- Retrieve documentation using Oracle and Agile systems.
- Maintain data entry tools and manage material orders independently.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and support production schedules, including overtime when required.
- High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree preferred).
- 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production environments.
- Experience performing mechanical or electro‑mechanical assembly operations.
- Ability to read and interpret assembly documentation, schematics, and procedures.
