Job Overview
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) for the Child and Adolescent Unit will work five 8‑hour shifts per week, including every other weekend. Shifts available: 3‑11:30 PM or 11‑7:30 AM. (A 2‑week orientation is mandatory: 8:30 A‑5 P).
Rockford Center is a 138‑bed mental health facility located in Newark, DE, providing inpatient and partial behavioral health programs for children, adolescents, adults and older adults. It is the only child inpatient behavioral health facility in Delaware, and serves New Castle County and northern Maryland.

Position Summary:
In this rewarding role, you will provide direct patient care to geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and children with psychiatric disorders to ensure the safety and well‑being of our patients.
- Monitor unit patients and complete rounds as assigned
- Participate in treatment planning
- Assist in the admission process
- Orient new patients to the unit and their program
- Plan and prepare for group therapy sessions

- Bachelor’s degree in psychology or similar; prior experience with adults in a behavioral‑health setting; strong communication, customer‑service, organizational, listening and clinical skills
- Two (2) years of related experience, knowledge of psychiatric patient‑care techniques and understanding of mental illness (preferred)
- CPR certification and completion of Handle with Care training during orientation process
