About the Department/Center:

Student Diversity & Inclusion (SDI) is part of the Division of Student Life. We endeavor to enhance diversity and inclusion opportunities and engagement for students. We offer student internships, create and facilitate programs and trainings, and advocate for students around fairness and access. We strive to build and provide community for all students, including students of color, LGBTQ+ students, and first generation college students.

Role

Description:

Working with the program coordinator in Student Diversity and Inclusion (SDI), the Social Media & Marketing Intern will assist with content creation and marketing for all SDI programs taking place in the Fall and Spring semesters, and oversee Heritage and History Month marketing for the monthly SDI Newsletter and passive programming.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the continued development of an online presence to share information, resources, and events related to diversity and inclusion.
  • Generate weekly content for SDI social media and web, and regular posting on the Instagram account.
  • Support the generation of content for the SDI newsletter, including graphic creation, copy editing, and monthly e-newsletter mailings.
  • Assist in the collection of analytics for SDI social media and web, and develop marketing tactics in response to these findings.
  • Conduct market research for SDI.
  • Collect content during SDI campus events to create and share promotional materials for the department and signature events.
  • Contribute ideas and new perspectives on building student engagement around diversity and inclusion.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Student Diversity & Inclusion and participate in the general promotion of student success and engagement around diversity and inclusion.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Google Applications and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in major social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat
  • Experience creating graphics in Canva or a similar platform.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective leadership, team building, and collaboration skills.
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Must be able to attend at least two events per month

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator.
  • Interest in higher education/student life graduate education, or professional experiences.
  • Engagement with diverse student populations and interests at UD.
  • Demonstrated commitment and interest in campus climate and culture around diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience with varied forms of content creation such as Reels, Tik Toks, You Tube Videos, event fliers, trip recaps, etc
