Dean of Student Support Services
JOB DESCRIPTION:
La Academia's Dean of Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellbeing is a pivotal leadership role within La Academia, responsible for cultivating a supportive and nurturing environment that fosters the emotional and social growth of students. This position requires a deep understanding of social-emotional learning (SEL) principles, mental health practices, and behavioral intervention strategies.

Executive Director
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leadership and Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive vision and strategy for promoting social, emotional, and behavioral wellbeing throughout the institution.
- Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff to integrate SEL principles into the academic curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Student Support Services:
- Collaborate with the Dean of Culture & Climate development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students.
- Provide guidance and support to students experiencing emotional distress, behavioral challenges, or mental health issues in individuals and groups.
- Is an active leader of the MTSS Team who offers social, emotional, and behavioral prevention and intervention strategies for students in need.
- Responsible for conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to understand the root causes of challenging behaviors in students.
- Faculty and Staff Development:
- Provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance their understanding of SEL principles and strategies for supporting student wellbeing.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Campus Wellbeing to implement policies and procedures that promote a positive work environment and support the wellbeing of faculty and staff.
- Community Engagement:
- Foster partnerships with parents, community organizations, and mental health professionals to support the holistic development of students.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Campus Well Being to organize workshops, seminars, Parent Universities and events to educate parents and community members about the importance of social-emotional learning and mental health awareness.
- Data Analysis and Evaluation:
- Collect and analyze data related to student wellbeing, including surveys, assessments, and behavioral incident reports. Member of the MTSS Team engaging in developing interventions related to social emotional wellbeing.
- Use data-driven insights to evaluate the effectiveness of SEL programs and interventions, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Crisis Response and Intervention:
- Develop protocols and procedures for responding to crises and emergencies related to student mental health and behavioral issues.
- Provide leadership and support during crisis situations, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all individuals involved.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or stated in our Employee Handbook
- Master's or doctoral degree in psychology, counseling, social work, education, or a related field.
- Experience in school counseling or a related field, with a focus on supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral wellbeing of students.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to prioritize student wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community members.
