Introduction
The White Clay Creek was named a National Wild and Scenic River by the National Park Service in 2000, which added an additional layer of protection to the area.
Summary StatementThe main duties of this job are to plan lessons, coordinate activities and work with campers in weekly nature‑themed summer discovery camps at White Clay Creek State Park. These camps are for children 4‑8 years or 8‑14 year old. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs. (For Camp positions - Monday through Friday will be needed throughout the camp season.
Additional work on weekends, evenings and holidays may be scheduled.)
This position is responsible for assisting with planning lessons, coordinating activities, and working with campers in weekly nature‑themed summer adventure camps at White Clay Creek State Park. These camps are for children 4‑8 years or 8‑14 years old. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled to meet facility needs. - May develop and facilitate educational programs for schools and special events.
- May lead school environmental education programs tied to state standards to increase student understanding of Delaware’s natural and cultural resources.
- May deliver interpretive programs to participants of all ages in a variety of contexts.
- Provides general customer service and park information to visitors.
- Distributes interpretive publications.
- May lead educational and recreational hikes, canoe and kayak trips plus programs for park visitors.
- May include live animal care and handling.
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Other duties as assigned.
