About the department / centerThe Teachers of Tomorrow Program is designed for high school students interested in a career in teaching. This program will begin with a Summer institute for two weeks in June. The program will continue with advisement and registration for participants to take a credit-bearing course that will count toward their UD teacher education degree.
Role DescriptionMembers of the peer staff are expected to plan and assist with elements of daily programming. Peer staff are also expected to serve as mentors providing general support, guidance, and structure to the students for the two-week Summer Institute from June 14 – June 26, 2026.
We will host a one-day training between April 21-24, 2026. Attendance is REQUIRED
. Peer staff will receive a stipend in the amount of $1800 for the two-week Summer Institute. Please note Peer Staff are required to perform duties as needed, and assigned, (in some cases, beyond the stated job description), be free of all other extracurricular activities during the employment of the summer program, and be available to work throughout the duration of the program.
Peer Staff must complete a criminal background check once an offer has been accepted.
- Accompany the students during the day and evening hours
- Engaging students in their evening activities
- Supporting the students in the program, particularly in the residence hall
- Providing evening programming and interpersonal support
- Eating all meals with the students
- Providing homework help to students
- Prior experience with the Teachers of Tomorrow Program. Whether as past peer staff or past participant in Teachers of Tomorrow.
- Students currently enrolled in a UD teacher preparation program (Early Childhood Education, Elementary Teacher Education and Secondary Teacher Education programs).
- Students with residence life experience at UD.
