Position TitleHealth Teacher — Grades K‑5, Full‑Time, 10‑month position, School Year 2026‑2027
Position DescriptionHealth Teachers must have excellent interpersonal skills, be self‑motivated, and have a demonstrated ability to deliver lessons aligned to Health curriculum goals. The teacher will guide the development and implementation of an instructional program that provides the best possible health education experience for each student. The Health Teacher promotes proper exercise, nutrition, hygiene, safety habits, and overall wellness and adjusts curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities or different learning needs.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive Health curriculum that meets state academic standards.
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that teach students the principles of wellness, nutrition, hygiene, physical activity, and safety.
- Foster student confidence and well‑being by encouraging awareness and ownership of personal health habits and goals.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration through goal‑setting, celebrating achievements, and emphasizing self‑improvement.
- Monitor and assess student progress using both formative and summative assessments to guide instruction.
- Use data to inform teaching practices and curriculum adjustments.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and achievement‑focused classroom environment.
- Participate in grade‑level planning, school‑wide initiatives, and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and health‑related learning.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of the school.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health Education or a related field.
- Possession or eligibility for a valid State of Delaware teaching license (see Delaware DOE for details).
- Successful completion of Praxis exams for Health Education.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and relate to students of all ages.
