Overview
1.0 FTE Full time Day - 08 Hour R2551516 Onsite Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Program Manager, Newark, CA. Stanford Health Care job. A brief overview follows addressing safety, health and fire safety programs in the hospital to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards including Joint Commission (TJC).
The EH&S Program Manager plans, administers and manages safety, health and fire safety programs, develops and implements environmental management programs, conducts on‑site inspections and monitoring, and manages interactions with outside agencies and regulatory personnel for the assigned area.

What You Will Do- Advise management and staff regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies. Investigate, research and make recommendations regarding best practices in health and safety management.
- Conduct environmental safety rounding and staff training for assigned programs; conduct fire drills, equipment and emergency evacuation training; conduct life safety inspections for construction projects.
- Conduct safety inspections and develop safety manual policies and procedures. Provide all aspects of project management relating to occupational safety and health investigations and inspections.
- Perform The Joint Commission (TJC), Fire/Life Safety regulatory compliance audits; conduct interviews, review records and recommend corrective actions and performance improvement opportunities.
- Interpret, coordinate and enforce The Joint Commission (TJC) Safety Standards; maintain regulatory compliance documentation and records.
- Develop and conduct mandated Environment of Care (EOC) audits in ambulatory and/or hospital facilities.
- Conduct environmental assessments and recommend mitigation methods as warranted.
- Develop and present reports to leadership; provide written reports of the conducted audits.
- Analyze data and report results to management and hospital committees.
- Develop, implement and continuously update safety and environmental health policies and programs to comply with local, state and federal regulations; identify, measure and improve EH&S processes.
- Identify personnel, institutional and material resources needed to accomplish program objectives; develop and present annual budgetary requirements for assigned EH&S operations.
- Manage all aspects of Laser Safety program (as assigned).
- Participate with external task forces, committees and agencies related to health and safety management at hospital, local, regional, state and federal levels.
- Prepare and review reports to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions; serve as a technical/regulatory resource in assigned program area and interpret analytical data to determine safety or environmental remediation controls.
- Negotiate compliance issues with regulatory agencies as necessary and track responses to citations/violations.
- Oversee day‑to‑day implementation, training, execution and administration of the Environment of Care (EOC) and TJC/Fire Safety plans; develop and administer budgets and schedules.
- Develop, administer, manage and oversee effective health and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accrediting/licensing bodies.
- Collaborate with OCIP Safety Manager to assist contractors in meeting TJC/EOC standards.
- This position may require on‑call availability during non‑standard hours to meet business needs and respond to emergencies. On‑call duties may be eligible for additional compensation under the FS&P Leader on Call program.
- Bachelor’s degree in a work‑related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered; such experience is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.
- Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
