JobPurpose
Sanmina is looking for a knowledgeable and ambitious person to fill a Quality Engineer position. In this role, you will ensure operational excellence and drive quality improvement in advanced machining operations for our high‑technology customers. The ideal candidate will be a strong technical resource, able to dive into the manufacturing process to develop permanent solutions to quality problems, both in‑house and quality engineer will be responsible for maintaining the Quality Management System and will be a primary contact for customer quality concerns.
Natureof Duties
- Lead corrective action teams and utilize quality tools, including 8D, in response to quality issues, including customer concerns.
- Develop, analyze and verify effectiveness of process controls by teaming with engineering to review customer specifications and drawings. Review and update quality control plans and quality checklists.
- Design, document and implement methods and procedures for inspection and test.
- Improve plant quality performance and customer satisfaction through process improvement techniques such as SPC, FMEA, DOE, Lean manufacturing and others.
- Develop and maintain quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
- Support nonconformance documentation and MRB disposition process, including analysis of customer complaints.
- Interface with customers on critical issues as needed.
- Conduct and report on internal audits.
- Participate in engineering CCB’s and assist in the development and refinement of PFMEAs.
- Provide training and mentoring to team members in the development of quality improvement skills and the application of various quality tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BS degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or similar field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in quality engineering or related area in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with reading and interpreting GD&T requirements.
- Detailed knowledge and hands‑on experience with quality tools including process flowcharts, FMEAs, control plans, CAPA, RCCA and 8D.
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 certified environment; AS9100 a plus.
- Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies including statistical analysis techniques (Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with machining and system integration/assembly preferred.
- Experience with CMMs and laser inspection systems preferred.
- Certified Green or Black belt a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office product suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- The employee may be exposed to dust, oil, coolant, and noise.
- Usual noise level is moderate to high.
- Must be able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Must be able to adapt to frequent changes to work processes.
- Must be able to interface with customers on a daily basis with little to no notice.
