Location: New York

The Warehouse Assistant should be responsible and energetic; this individual will perform multiple functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing supplies, and managing, organizing, and retrieving stock in the warehouse. Functions may also include assisting clients with food selection, packing food bags, assisting with food pantry inventory, maintaining food pantry storage space, and any other duties needed.

duties and responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain outstanding working relationships with TCAH partners to ensure satisfaction. Resolve customer issues as appropriate
  • Assist with loading & unloading vehicles and checking in merchandise
  • Complete inventory via Smart Choice platform
  • Sort and place materials or items in storage, trucks, and/or warehouses
  • Open and dispose of boxes, bales, crates, and other containers
  • Safekeep all pantry equipment including barcode scanners, handheld devices
  • Regular reporting and documentation of shopping area
  • Replenish stock on shelves at designated intervals to ensure food availability
  • Understand and utilize the TCAH point system, put in place to provide wholesome meal to all clients
  • Maintain inventory controls by collecting stock and recording on inventory sheets (dry, fresh and refrigerated). Assist in counting of physical inventory
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping storage, store, and work stations neat
  • Sweep, dust and mop. Organize warehouse and work area for orderliness at all times
  • Wear the proper safety equipment including steel toe boots and gloves
  • Inspect and verify the complete contents and quality of all products and quickly communicate any shortages or other issues to the Manager
  • Monitor the condition of all equipment and report and coordinate with the Manager around maintenance required
  • Ensure that products are dated and rotated before distribution to clients
  • Assist with volunteer groups and youth interns
  • May need to work in other areas of the organization as deemed necessary by supervisor
