A Master‑level Technician who provides a high skill level for accurate vehicle maintenance and repairs of fleet vehicles with a focus on exceptional customer satisfaction in a cost‑effective manner. A Technician may work independently or in a team environment.
Job Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspect the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
- Perform light and major repairs.
- Perform advanced diagnostics.
- Interact with customers and display exceptional interpersonal skills while driving service center’s performance with the highest integrity and trust.
- Based upon certification levels, perform various repairs and maintenance, which may include OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune‑ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine, and drive‑line components, etc.
- Maintain/repair equipment (cable trailers, laptop docking stations, etc.).
- Keep shop area clean and tidy; perform work in accordance with safety standards; dispose of all fluids in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.
- Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records; may up‑fit new vehicles with necessary equipment.
- Perform more complex repairs, advanced diagnostics, design, and fabrication.
- Interface and coordinate with vendors for parts and repairs; may perform roadside assistance as needed.
- Design and fabricate custom equipment as needed, including welding.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and on‑board computer systems.
- Efficiently diagnose, repair, and replace general automotive parts and accessories, including brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, state safety, HVAC, major engine, and hydraulics.
- Work on medium/heavy truck applications, booms/hydraulics, electrical, and other complex repairs, design, and fabrication.
- Perform skilled diesel and transmission repairs.
- Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting skills for complex repairs.
- Work on a wide range of vehicle classes from light‑duty to Class A‑heavy trucks, mechanical equipment, machinery, passenger vehicles, and more.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field. Alternative paths include a degree or certification beyond high school with 3 years of experience, or 7 years of experience.
- Possession of Master Level ASE certification preferred; must continue training to maintain current A.S.E. status.
- Safe driver; valid driver’s license required. Must hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver's license and obtain/maintain their Driver Qualification File.
- Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmissions.
- Ability to work safely in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to enter/exit vehicles frequently; able to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear regularly; required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb frequently.
- Vision: close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds (tools, equipment).
- Transmission and diesel experience preferred.
- Extensive training and certification with 5–10 years of hands‑on diesel repair experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT and CDL requirements for medium and heavy truck applications.
- Ability to obtain Class A or B Operator’s License if required.
- A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until expiration may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if four (4) months or less of validity remain, a DOT physical will be required.
