Substitute School Bus Attendants

Responsibilities

• Assist students in safely boarding and exiting the bus, ensuring secure seating and proper use of safety equipment such as seat belts and harnesses.
• Monitor student behavior during transport, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
• Provide support to students with disabilities or special needs, including securing wheelchairs and mobility devices as required.
• Communicate effectively with the school bus driver and transportation staff regarding student concerns or incidents.
• Maintain order and follow district policies regarding student conduct and safety.
• Assist in emergency evacuation procedures and respond appropriately in case of emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with bus drivers, school staff, and parents.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and patient in stressful situations.
• Must pass all required background checks and drug screenings.
