Overview
Welding, along with general maintenance and repair on boats and barges at shop facility as required.
Responsibilities- Welding for general maintenance.
- Perform general maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in yard facility maintenance.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform in the company Spill Management team as assigned.
- Proficient in the use and knowledge of various welding practices
- Proficient in the use of MIG, TIG, Stick and Oxy/Act torch uses
- WABO or ABS certification a definite plus
- Able to read blueprints and to fit up and weld projects with little to no supervision
- Maintain the shop welding area clean and properly stocked with consumables
- Ability to work with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
- Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs at sea and in port.
- Must be able to read, speak, write, type, and understand English in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crew members.
- Valid Washington State drivers' license and the ability to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of hire.
- Required to work aboard boats and barges using pike poles, heavy lines, winches, mechanical tools for repairs.
- Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.
- Frequently required to board tugs, barges, and ships, at dock or at anchor in all weather conditions and at all hours, and in remote locations.
- Normal office hours are 7:00 a.m. to3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Takes communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning vessel maintenance, repair, and operations.
