Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations across multiple departments, including transportation, logistics, dispatch, and general operations.
- Plan, forecast, and schedule transportation activities.
- Coordinate dispatching operations to ensure on-time deliveries and support flight schedules.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with relevant departments to meet organizational standards for delivery schedules and flight service quality.
- Ensure full compliance with transportation regulations, including traffic laws, weight limits, and hours‑of‑service rules.
- Supervise, train, and mentor a large team of drivers and driver helpers.
- Develop and implement training programs/manuals for safe vehicle operation and ramp safety protocols.
- Monitor driver schedules, adjust to minimize overtime, and conduct field coaching as needed.
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, properly fueled, and compliant with DOT, OSHA, Safe Program, and internal standards.
- Address vehicle malfunctions promptly and coordinate maintenance with Fleet Manager.
- Reinforce ramp safety SOPs and support a culture of safety across operations.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with airline, airport, port authority, and federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs, vehicle inspections, and delivery documentation.
- Serve as an escalation point for resolving transportation and dispatch‑related challenges.
- Perform any additional duties or responsibilities assigned by the Operations Manager to support departmental and organizational objectives.
- Minimum 3 years of transportation leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing or airport‑related logistics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field (preferred).
- Experience with transportation & ramp safety operations and DOT compliance.
- Strong planning, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
- Knowledge of transportation operations and safety protocols in high‑security environments - airport or port settings (preferred).
- Hands‑on leadership style; willing to be present in the field to ensure successful dispatch and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and motivate diverse teams with professionalism and tact.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with dispatching or fleet software a plus.
- All airport‑related positions require applicants to successfully complete the mandatory airport security clearance process for their assigned location. This includes meeting all TSA and U.S. Customs requirements, as outlined in 49 CFR §, and obtaining the appropriate airport‑issued identification badge (e.g., SIDA, AOA, or equivalent), in accordance with local airport authority regulations.
- Ability to work long hours on foot and in environments with varying temperatures.
- Flexibility to work different shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays) based on business needs.
- Salary range: $66,300 - $80,000 annually.
