Salary Range: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 Salary/year
The Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of a towing and transport company, ensuring timely response to service calls, efficient dispatch of drivers, accurate billing, regulatory compliance, and exceptional customer service. This role serves as a central point of communication between drivers, customers, vendors, and management, while also supporting safety, operational efficiency, and driver performance.
Key Responsibilities- Work with Dispatcher to answer and manage all incoming emergency calls and service inquiries.
- Dispatch drivers to calls and monitor job progress throughout the day.
- Provide accurate job quotes for towing and transport services.
- Communicate continuously with drivers regarding call status, issues, and operational support.
- Monitor and prevent misuse of local trucks; ensure vehicles are properly maintained and in safe operating condition.
- Collect payments from customers and cash from drivers.
- Approve vendor invoices in coordination with accounting.
- Obtain necessary permits for oversized loads (as required).
- Process billing and push invoices through Towbook and Quick Books.
- Book hotel accommodations for over-the-road drivers.
- Assist drivers with proper towing procedures via phone or in person.
- Organize driver schedules for the following day.
- Approve driver timecards using Samsara and Towbook systems.
- Generate night call sheets for after-hours jobs.
- Evaluate and address mechanical concerns reported by drivers.
- Serve as scene safety officer for heavy‑duty accidents.
- Prepare and submit State HUT taxes.
- Prepare and submit IFTA fuel tax filings.
- Organize and submit state bid proposals; attend bid meetings.
- Partner with Human Resources to conduct driver performance evaluations.
- DOT Compliance and Safety Documentation in conjunction with the HR Department.
- Coordinate marketing initiatives with website or marketing vendors.
- Register company attendees and schedule classes for towing industry shows.
- Coordinate rental equipment for job requirements.
- Review video evidence and generate accident reports for company vehicle incidents.
- Maintain a clean and organized yard, including parking lot, trucks, and equipment areas
- Proven experience in towing, transportation, logistics, or dispatch operations.
- Strong knowledge of towing equipment, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Ability to manage a fast‑paced, emergency‑driven environment.
- Flexibility to be on‑call, work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in Towbook, Quick Books, Samsara, or similar software.
- Strong multitasking ability and attention to detail.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication.
- Leadership and team coordination capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions under pressure.
