Bus Driver - Position

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Bus Driver - Hourly Position to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential.

• Transport children and other passengers to and from school.
• Learn bus route.
• Understand and obey all traffic laws.
• Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.
• Ensure the safety of all students.
• Discipline children as needed to maintain a safe environment.
• Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.
• Attend safety meetings as required.

$25.23 - $28.43
* Incremental increase depending on relevant driving experience

Attendance Incentive:
Drivers absent 3 times or less (personal or sick) in each 2 month period over the school year will receive an attendance bonus as follows:

Absent 0-1 days = $200

Absent 2-3 days = $150

CDL Differential:
Valid CDL B license holders who accept CDL Class B assignments are eligible for an end of year differential of $550 (pro-rated for drivers working less than the full school year and/or only working 1 shift).

Eligibility requirements:
Health insurance is available to eligible drivers who work 30 or more hours per work week, on as-needed basis.

• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL B or CDL
  
  C) with “P” & “S” endorsement.
• Previous experience operating a school bus or van is preferred.
• One (1) year clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations.
