Job Purpose:

Manage shipment and all logistics operations at an automaker's assembly plant in Charlotte as the on-site responsible person in charge.

Principal

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage shipment and all logistics operations at the assembly plant as the on-site responsible person in charge.
  • Coordinate with carriers and arrange to ship finished vehicles from the plant to dealers in the US and Canada to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring the shipping lot and its capacity to maintain a good flow of operation and serve as the main point of contact for Contract Manufacturing and carriers.
  • Assist and instruct carrier drivers to find and move trucks, and sometimes find and move them personally.
  • Communicate closely with carriers to avoid shipping delays caused by congestion at the shipping site.
  • Communicate with vendors of off-site yards if a temporary off-site yard is used.
  • Report to and troubleshoot issues at the on-site location in a timely manner when damage or issues occur.
  • Report and communicate the on-site status daily, weekly, and monthly to internal and external customers.
  • Create and update various reports from scratch based on customer needs to monitor the situation on-site.
  • Research, formulate, recommend, and prepare plans for operational improvement.
  • Monitor and update the TDMS (in-house) system.
Educational and Experience Requirements /

Skills and Abilities
  • Must have logistics experience, such as shipping management or on-site management experience, and/or experience working with carriers.
  • Must be ready to work outside and in the ship lot in all weather conditions and communicate with truck drivers.
  • Familiarity with truck driving and truck mechanical issues is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external customers are required.
  • Project management experience is necessary.
  • High-level skills in Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables, with experience in data management, analysis, and reporting using Excel.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
  • Must be open-minded and able to easily adjust to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proactive thinking and problem-solving skills with a highly professional demeanor are required.
  • Energetic and positive approach to challenges is necessary.
