Job Title: Indoor Track Athletic Assistant Coach (Part-Time)

$1,500.00/yr - $5,000.00/yr

Capital Preparatory Schools is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Athletic Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing coaching and guidance to scholar‑athletes in a specific sport and helping them to develop their skills and achieve their potential. This is a part‑time position that will require availability during afternoon and evening hours and on weekends.

• Follow the administrative procedures established by Capital Preparatory Schools as published in the Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual and all applicable policies.
• Develop and implement practice plans for scholar‑athletes to ensure conditioning and training for competition.
• Provide individualized coaching and instruction to improve technique, physical fitness, and overall performance.
• Communicate effectively with scholar‑athletes, parents, and other coaches regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress.
• Schedule regular practices and supervise all team practices, games, and events, both home and away.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitudes among scholar‑athletes.
• Maintain equipment, uniforms, accurate records, and statistics for team performance as required by the CPS network.
• Enter grades for all scholar‑athletes.
• Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the league and complete end‑of‑season checklists.
• Fundraise as needed and enforce team travel standards for behavior and appropriate dress.
• Oversee the training and care of scholar‑athletes and, for a Head Coach, select, supervise, and provide guidance to assistant coaches while monitoring their professional development.
• For a Head Coach, conduct performance evaluations for full‑time and/or part‑time assistant coaches.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Administration.

• Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports science, or related field preferred; high school diploma required.
• Active certification to coach in the State of NY.
• Experience coaching at the high school level with a focus on skill development and player improvement.
• Strong knowledge of the sport, including current strategies, techniques, and trends.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire scholar‑athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and staff members.
• Valid CPR/First Aid certification.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; able to obtain passenger endorsement on license and maintain an excellent driving record.
• Availability for weekends, afternoon/evenings, and travel.

This is a part‑time position, paid by stipend that may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions and physical activity, and requires lifting, carrying, and moving heavy equipment.

Salary for this position is commensurate with experience. Capital Preparatory Schools offers an athletic coaching stipend at a rate of $1,500 - $5,000.
