Senior Engineer – Commodities Operations Technology

Our client is a leading global multi-strategy investment firm managing capital across commodities, credit, equities, and macro strategies.

Technology is a core driver of the business. Engineering partners directly with portfolio managers, traders, and operations teams to build scalable, high-performance systems that support front-office execution and operational efficiency.

This is a senior backend engineering role focused on building and optimizing mission‑critical commodities operations systems. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable backend platforms that support trading operations, data flows, and system integrations. This is a production‑grade engineering role — not a ticket‑driven support function.

• Architect and build backend applications from design through implementation
• Develop and optimize messaging‑driven systems (Kafka, Rabbit
  
  MQ, Solace, etc.)
• Improve performance, scalability, and system reliability
• Integrate APIs and external services into internal platforms
• Work closely with trading operations and technology stakeholders
• Own code quality, testing, and performance validation

• 7+ years backend software engineering experience
• Strong experience with messaging systems (Kafka, Rabbit
  
  MQ, Solace, etc.)
• Solid SQL and No
  
  SQL database experience
• Experience optimizing performance and tuning backend systems
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Experience with Git and modern SDLC practices
