Sr. Software Engineer - Product

Authentic helps insurance brokers create better insurance products for their clients. We provide the technology platform and behind-the-scenes support that lets brokers build custom insurance solutions for specific industries or customer groups. Think of us as the operating system that powers these specialized insurance offerings. For brokers, this means they can offer unique products their competitors don't have, earn more money, and spend less time on paperwork and administrative tasks.

We handle the complex (technology, compliance, and partnerships with highly-rated insurance carriers), so they can focus on serving their customers and growing their business.

• Lead the design and implementation of complex product features, taking ownership from problem definition through delivery, without needing heavy direction
• Identify bottlenecks and build solutions that help us move faster, using first-principles thinking combined with practical judgment about what matters most
• Own problems end-to-end, thinking through everything from user experience, component architecture, performance, and accessibility—digging deep to understand root causes and optimize for real-world outcomes
• Build polished, responsive interfaces that translate complex insurance workflows into intuitive user experiences
• Iterate on existing features to a high degree of excellence based on user feedback and product metrics
• Mentor and coach other engineers on the team

• 5+ years of experience building production web applications with Type Script and React
• Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture, state management, and component design patterns
• Experience working across the stack—comfortable collaborating on APIs and backend systems
• Demonstrated high agency and ownership: you naturally clarify what 'good' looks like, ask great questions, and drive to completion
• Track record of shipping high-quality user experiences without compromising on velocity
• Experience mentoring engineers and elevating team capabilities

• Experience with Python backend development
• Familiarity with AWS and cloud infrastructure
• Experience at a high-growth startup, ideally going from 0-1
• Interest in fintech, insurtech, or regulated industries
