Java Developer

Akkodis is seeking a Java Developer for a Contract job with a client in New York, NY
. This role requires strong core Java fundamentals, experience building large‑scale backend applications, and hands‑on expertise across Spring Boot, Kafka, Cloud, and modern engineering tools.

Pay Range: $45/hr – $53/hr

The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

• Apply strong core Java fundamentals with 5+ years of experience building large‑scale backend applications.
• Work with Cloud environments (public or private) to support development and deployment activities.
• Follow software development best practices and perform due diligence across all lifecycle phases, including analysis, build, testing, and automation.
• Write high‑quality JUnit tests, improve code coverage, and troubleshoot issues in both test and production environments.
• Design and code applications using:
  • Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, JUnit, Mockito
  • Integration Testing, Sonar Qube, log4j
  • Gradle and Maven
  • Git, Unix/Shell scripting
  • RDBMS, SQL, No
    
    SQL
  • REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Dynatrace
• Optimize performance for sub‑second response time across distributed applications.
• Own all technical aspects of software development for assigned applications.
• Participate in the design and development of systems/application programs.
• Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies and improve platform capabilities.

• Strong core Java fundamentals.
• 5+ years of experience building large‑scale backend applications in Java.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, JUnit, Mockito, RDBMS/No
  
  SQL, CI/CD tools, and cloud technologies.
• Hands‑on experience in Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Dynatrace, and distributed systems performance tuning.
• Proficiency with Git, Gradle, Maven, Unix/Shell scripting, and REST services.
• Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to design, develop, and test modern distributed applications end‑to‑end.
