About Honey Hive

At Honey Hive, we are building the new observability stack for AI agents. Our platform is used by leading AI startups and Fortune 500 enterprises to build, deploy, and observe AI agents. AI engineers use our platform debug complex agents, evaluate output quality, monitor agent failures in production, and a whole lot more.

We’ve raised $7.4M Seed from Insight Partners and are on track to scale further. Our founding team includes AI, infra, and product experts who’ve shipped large‑scale systems at Microsoft OpenAI, Amazon, Amplitude, New Relic, and more.

About the role

As a Member of Technical Staff focused on SDKs at Honey Hive, you'll own the critical infrastructure that AI engineers at leading companies use to instrument, trace, and evaluate their AI applications. You'll be the technical expert responsible for our end-to-end tracing and evaluation SDKs built on Open Telemetry (OTEL).

We're a small team, which means you'll have tremendous impact and ownership. You'll work directly with our founders and customers, and have the freedom to explore your own ideas while building developer tools that thousands of AI engineers depend on.

In this role, you will

  • Own our SDK ecosystem – Design, build, and maintain our Python and Type Script SDKs for end-to-end tracing and evaluations, focusing on performance, reliability, and exceptional developer experience

  • Drive OTEL integration – Lead the technical implementation of Open Telemetry instrumentation across our SDK stack, ensuring seamless observability for AI applications

  • Build integrations – Ship new integrations with leading agent orchestration frameworks (Lang Chain, Llama Index, CrewAI, etc.), vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma), and model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)

  • Shape technical architecture – Make key architectural decisions for SDK design, data collection patterns, and telemetry infrastructure as we scale

  • Work directly with customers – Collaborate with AI engineers at high‑growth companies to understand their instrumentation needs and translate them into robust SDK features

  • Establish best practices – Define SDK development standards, testing frameworks, and documentation practices that will scale with our growing developer community

  • Represent Honey Hive externally – Engage with the broader developer community at conferences, hackathons, and through technical content

Our stack

We use React, Express, and NextJS for web development, AWS for all our cloud needs, and are building SDKs in Typescript and Python using Open Telemetry (OTEL).

About you

We think you'd be a great fit if you have:

  • 5+ years of backend/systems engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping production systems at scale

  • Deep SDK/library development expertise – Experience building developer tools, SDKs, or libraries that external teams depend on

  • Strong proficiency in Python and Type Script/Node.js for building robust, well‑tested SDKs

  • Observability systems experience – Hands‑on experience with Open Telemetry, distributed tracing, metrics collection, or APM systems

  • Systems thinking – You understand how to build scalable, maintainable developer tools and can make thoughtful technical tradeoffs

  • API design expertise – Experience designing clean, intuitive APIs that developers love to use

What sets great candidates apart:

  • Previous experience building developer infrastructure – SDKs, monitoring tools, observability platforms, or developer‑facing APIs

  • AI/ML engineering background – Familiarity with LLM applications, prompt engineering, RAG, evaluations, or AI observability

  • Open source contributions – Experience maintaining or contributing to popular open source libraries or tools

  • Early‑stage startup experience – You've built products from 0 to 1 in fast‑paced environments

Why join
  • We have product market fit and are scaling fast!

  • You'll build critical infrastructure that engineers at cutting‑edge companies rely on daily.

  • You'll learn the ins and outs of startup building – perfect if you want to build your own company someday.

  • We have a flat org structure. Everyone on the team ships!

Benefits
  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity

  • Health, vision, and dental benefits

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Assistance in relocating to NYC or SF

  • Mac Book Pro + peripherals

  • Annual AI Stipend
