The Media Supply Chain Engineering team builds the applications and services that power Warner Bros Discovery’s content supply chain. Our applications cover the entire breadth of the media supply chain, from idea to distribution. We have a robust global community of thousands of internal Warner Bros Discovery users who rely on our apps every day to get television produced, on the air, and onto HBO Max.
PositionSummary
We are looking for a highly skilled individual who takes pride in bringing high-quality code quickly to market, enjoys learning and applying new technologies, provides mentoring to other engineers, and thrives in a dynamic engineering-oriented work environment.
You will work with different encoding solutions and develop diverse solutions to interact and manage these systems, integrating them into our workflows using the latest technologies.
Responsibilities- You have acquired subject‑matter expertise over one or more production software systems and demonstrated a pattern of shipping high‑quality feature changes in that or those system(s).
- You solve business problems with simple and straightforward solutions, applying appropriate technologies and software engineering best practices. You can lead the design and development of the most complex enhancements involving yourself and other engineers.
- You have built multiple stable, scalable feature changes that have been successfully shipped to customers in production.
- Your work and your approach to work are exemplary: you drive best practices and set standards for your team. You are a role model to other teams. Your software contributions in production are the model for highly available, low latency, and efficient software. Your documentation in code, technical designs, and operations provide clarity to any engineer interacting with your software or its code.
- You are a collaborative leader that makes other engineers and team members around you more productive, by sharing your knowledge, and helping to tie‑break key technical decisions. You provide mentoring to other engineers.
- You are an effective communicator as exemplified by your technical documentation, and your interactions with stakeholders and adjacent teams. You can effectively represent the technical decisions from your team to senior stakeholders.
- BS in Computer Science or related field
- 7+ years of technical experience as software developer, or related role
- Extensive experience in development on cloud‑based infrastructure like AWS
- Extensive experience developing in at least one of the programming languages:
Python, Java or Go - Hands‑on experience in implementing microservices, RESTful APIs, and event‑driven architectures
- Extensive experience with mission critical, 24x7, Tier‑1 services
- Extensive experience with high throughput, multi‑threaded systems
- Extensive experience implementing and consuming large‑scale web services
- Mastery of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Product development experience in consumer‑focused companies
- Excellent Computer Science fundamentals in object‑oriented design, data structures, algorithms, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis
- Ability to work on a diverse team
- Must have the legal right to work in the United States
- Experience with video streaming, codecs, video delivery and broadcast workflows
- Master’s degree or PhD in computer science or equivalent
On December 5, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery announced they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Netflix will acquire Warner Bros., including its film and television studios, HBO Max and HBO. The transaction is expected to close after the separation of Warner Bros. Discovery's Global Networks division, Discovery Global, into a new publicly‑traded company, which is expected to be completed in Q3 2026.
