Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 7 years of experience with full-stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or Type Script, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience as an Uber Technical Lead or Senior Staff Software Engineer in a large-scale product environment.
• Experience in applied AI, multimodal models, and GenAI technologies, with the ability to translate model capabilities into user-facing features.
• Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross‑functional, or cross‑business projects.
• Experience mentoring executive engineers and TLs and fostering a technical culture.

With your technical expertise you will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions.

In this role, you will oversee the technical strategy and execution across the entire Google Slides product, ensuring its continued success as a must‑win platform within Workspace. You will provide comprehensive technical direction to software engineers, focusing on high‑quality delivery, architectural integrity, and solving issues while integrating GenAI features into Slides. Your goal is to help presentation creators become more effective visual storytellers through AI‑powered creation, design and visualization.

You will achieve this by partnering with Deep Mind and are leveraging Gemini's and Nano Banana's capabilities. AI will change the future of work in profound ways, and our products— Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Vids and Meet are at the forefront. From pre‑computed summaries for email threads, summaries for meetings, and videos created from a document using lifelike AI avatars, our AI opportunity is huge.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $248,000‑$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
