Lead Software Engineer - Java, AWS

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer (VP) to support critical consumer banking platforms within a large‑scale, regulated financial services environment. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical leader who builds secure, resilient, cloud‑native services and guides a small engineering team delivering high‑volume, customer‑facing capabilities.

• Lead and mentor a team of 6-8 engineers, providing technical leadership and ensuring consistent, high‑quality delivery.
• Design and develop Java/Spring Boot microservices on AWS, leveraging containerized and event‑driven architectures.
• Write, review, and debug production‑grade code across distributed systems with a strong focus on security and stability.
• Architect for availability, resiliency, and performance, automating remediation of recurring operational issues.
• Implement and evolve CI/CD pipelines and agile engineering practices.
• Own observability and runtime health using Splunk and Grafana dashboards and alerts.
• Use Kafka and asynchronous messaging to support distributed, high‑throughput workflows.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to evaluate architecture, scalability, and platform fit.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement.

• 8+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience with formal training or certification.
• Strong expertise in Java/J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, and AWS cloud services.
• Proven experience designing and operating microservice‑based systems end to end.
• Solid background in CI/CD, agile delivery, application security, and resiliency engineering.
• Experience with distributed systems and streaming/event platforms (Kafka).
• Background in consumer financial services or other regulated environments.
