You will closely collaborate with internal customers to determine the best API and backend design to meet scalability needs. Build backend systems that power the application, scale highly distributed systems, and continuously improve engineering practices. Your work will impact the world’s music experience.
Mimir is a squad within the Personalization Mission that empowers and enables the serving of Spotify vector ecosystems own the Flux Platform that many teams use for candidate generation or content/user representations.
What You'll Do- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to design backend systems and APIs that meet scalable needs
- Architect, develop, and operate Java services deployed to millions of users
- Leverage Spotify's many data sets to create awesome music recommendations
- Be a technical leader and valued contributor in an autonomous, cross‑functional agile team
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and designers to solve challenging problems, creating awesome music sessions for users worldwide
- Be a leader of the Spotify‑wide backend developer community affecting and driving architecture across the company
- Work on what you want during regular hack days and bi‑annual hack weeks
- Work from our headquarters in Stockholm where we solve problems in Music Recommendations, Personalized Sets, and Music Understanding
- Experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document, and develop APIs and systems, driving adoption and reducing custom implementations
- Experience writing distributed, high‑volume services and deploying/maintaining them in production
- Interest in big data processing technologies
- Love working in an environment where you constantly experiment and iterate quickly
- Believe data is the most powerful tool for informed decision‑making
- Deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms
- Care for quality and know what it means to ship high‑quality code

Learn about life United States base range for this position is $160,091 – $228,702 plus equity. Benefits include health insurance, six‑month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
