Backend Engineer

About the Role

We’re seeking a Staff Backend Engineer with strong foundational experience to lead the design, development, and maintenance of our backend platform. This person will take ownership of core system architecture and help reduce the load on our current engineering leadership. You should be confident handling complex backend challenges independently and guiding technical decision-making across the stack.

• Own and architect backend systems end-to-end, including services, data pipelines, authentication, search, and workflow engines.

• Manage cloud infrastructure (currently hosted on AWS), ideally through an infrastructure-as-code approach.

• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks to support fast, reliable development.

• Collaborate with engineers across the company to deliver key features and technical improvements.

• Lead major technical discussions and decisions, such as framework selection, data modeling, and system design.

• 6–14 years of backend engineering experience, including time in technical leadership or ownership roles.

• Strong experience with modern backend languages and distributed systems.

• Ability to design scalable architectures and write production-ready code.

• Prior experience managing cloud-based infrastructure and CI/CD systems.
