Day Shift - 7.5 Hours (United States of America)

Richmond University Medical Center is seeking a dedicated Family Peer Advocate (FPA) to join our OMH Youth ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) program
. The Family Peer Advocate will draw on their lived experience as a parent or primary caregiver of a child with serious emotional and/or behavioral challenges to provide support, advocacy, and education to families. This role is essential to promoting family empowerment, engagement, and resiliency.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advocacy, support, and education to families participating in the Youth ACT program.
  • Use lived experience to empower parents/caregivers and model resiliency and hope.
  • Assist families in navigating the mental health system and other child- and family-serving systems.
  • Facilitate parent support groups, family education sessions, and community engagement activities.
  • Promote quality services that enhance family voice and participation in care planning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with program and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with program staff and treatment team members to ensure coordinated care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Family Peer Advocate (FPA) credential required.
  • Must be the parent or primary caregiver of a child with serious emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • Experience navigating mental health and related child-serving systems required.
  • Previous experience in parent or group facilitation, advocacy, or community organization preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to work with diverse families.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Basic computer skills helpful.
Salary

Salary: $60,000 - $65,000, Grant Funded Program
