POSITION:
Community Outreach Coordinator - Preventative Services
Reports to:
Program Director, Preventive Services (50300 - ACS SFT)
Location: 400 Liberty Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11207
Hours/Status:
Part-time 20 hours a week;
Ability to attend outreach events held on Saturdays.
Salary Range: $35 per hour to $35 per hour to

History
In our Preventive Services program, families are provided a range of supportive services to assist parents/caregivers in addressing any barriers to their children’s health, safety, and well-being. The goal is to help families stabilize, strengthen, and prevent child maltreatment, so that they can avoid any future involvement with the child welfare system. We provide a clinical intervention, which includes family therapy, case management support, client advocacy, and parent coaching, to help adult caretakers step up and lead their family towards higher functioning and greater self-sufficiency.
Position Summary:
The Community Outreach Coordinator oversees the program’s outreach and involvement in the community. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills in order to make and maintain connections with other organizations and stakeholders in East New York and surrounding neighborhoods. The Community Outreach Coordinator will help promote Preventive Services to the community.
- Attend outreach and tabling events held in the community.
- Connect with other service providers in East New York and surrounding areas.
- Collaborate with other BCS programs regarding referrals, events, and outreach.
- Maintain a log and documentation of all outreach and events.
- Provide information about BCS East New York programs to people in the community.
- Create and maintain a community partner contact list.
- Keep the Preventive Services program informed of other resources and programs available to our clients.
- Facilitate connections between Social Worker and other resources.
- Attend Staff Meetings and supervision with direct supervisor.
- Other tasks, as may be required.
- Bachelor’s degree or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills; great attention to detail
- Proven ability to work with a range of people from diverse backgrounds and circumstances
- Ability to attend outreach events held on Saturdays.
- Lived experience with Preventive Services a plus
- Bilingual skills in Spanish a plus
- Previous work experience in a social service agency or non-profit organization and Interest in child development, child welfare, social work, etc. a plus
