Helen Keller Services for the Blind is seeking a Full-Time Bilingual Social Worker to join our Rehabilitation Services department in Brooklyn, NY.
Responsible for the execution of HKS’s Mission, through the goals and objectives by providing social work services to any HKSB clients that would benefit from casework. This position is based out of the Brooklyn location with occasional travel to the Hempstead location. The social worker maintains positive communication with clients, all collateral contacts, i.e. their family members, outside social service agencies, NYSCB staff and HKSB employees.
Must demonstrate a sincere commitment to HKSB’s Mission and Values and conduct him/herself at a high professional level at all times and project a positive image of HKSB internally and externally.
- Provide all necessary Casework services (Assessment, Level 1 and Level 2 counseling) as deemed appropriate for clients.
- Complete all necessary Casework paperwork in a timely fashion, computer work, telephone calls, outside paperwork and referrals, Informed system work, etc., as required by all VR clients.
- Provide outreach services as necessary to advocate for clients.
- Schedule and maintain client appointments.
- Coordinate client services with NYSCB staff, outside social service agencies and other HKSB instructors.
- Excellent attention to detail regarding progress notes and report submission.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Clinical Supervision is provided
Responsible for other duties as may be assigned or requested by the Clinical Program Director of Social Work Services.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Master’s Degree in Social Work required.
- Experience in working with adults and children with disabilities preferred.
- Social Work Licensure in the State of New York (LMSW or LCSW) required.
Brooklyn, NY - Travel to Hempstead when necessary

PAY$70,000 - $75,000 annually
